AGE-REALTED MACULAR DEGENERATION AND SERUM LEPTIN: A CASE–CONTROL STUDY
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the association serum leptin levels with presence and severity age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods: A hospital-based case–control conducted on 84 patients (42 cases 42 controls) either sex complaining diminution vision aged 40 years above between August 2019 2021. Results: Mean level in 1.55±0.99 ng/mL control 2.11±0.88 (p<0.008). negatively correlated early (1.06±0.99 ng/mL), intermediate (0.50±0.08 dry (ARMD) (0.29±0.12 ng/mL). However, we found higher exudative ARMD (2.58±0.99 Maximum number were AMD (42.86%) followed by (33.34%) (11.91% each). Conclusion: We a decrease as disease increases from Dry AMD. This may be due some pathological process that is different can form basis for further research future.

background: age-related macular degeneration (amd) is one of the leading causes of visual loss among people aged 65 yr and older. the pathophysiology of amd is poorly understood. the purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between serum lipid concentrations and age-related macular degeneration. methods: in this case-control study, total cholesterol (tch), low density lipoprotein ...
متن کاملThe Study of Serum Asymmetric Dimethylarginine Concentrations in the Different Paraoxonase Phenotypes of Exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration Disease
Background and Aims: Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) is a degenerative retinal disorder that causes progressive loss of central vision in older adults. The study aimed to determine the effect of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) as oxidizing metabolite and paraoxonase (PON1) activity within its phenotypes as an antioxidant agent in the development of such multifactorial disease. Mater...

age-related macular degeneration (armd) is a major cause of central blindness among working aged adults across the world. systematic research planning on any subject, including armd is in need of solid data regarding previous efforts in this field and to identify the gaps in the research. this study aimed to elucidate the most important trends, directions, and gap in this subject. the data extr...
متن کاملSerum antioxidants and age-related macular degeneration among older Japanese.
From the perspective of human nutrition, the prevention of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) through diet control is feasible and desirable. We investigated the relationship between serum antioxidants and AMD in the community-dwelling older Japanese eating a typical Japanese diet. In this study, 722 subjects aged 65 years or older (297 males and 425 females) who had gradable fundus photogr...
متن کاملMacular pigment and age related macular degeneration.
The present concepts of the pathogenesis of AMD include cumulative light damage by oxidative processes in the macular photoreceptors as environmental co-factor for the development of AMD. The direct causative connection of this hypothesis has still to be established but wide circumstantial evidence from epidemiological and basic scientific investigations are strongly supportive. Macular pigment...
